How Problem Hacking works

6 STAGES TO SUCCEED
01
See

Slow down. Step back. Our courses teach people to observe problems with fresh eyes—zooming out to spot patterns, digging deeper to uncover hidden tensions, and challenging how the problem is currently understood. This is where clearer, more critical thinking begins.

02
Frame

Together, learners reframe challenges to make them solvable. They are taught to ask sharper questions, test assumptions, and define the real problem—ensuring they’re solving what truly matters, not just what’s most visible.

03
Build

Teams bring ideas to life through fast, low-risk prototypes. Learners sketch, mock up, and model ideas to explore possibilities—learning by doing, not waiting for perfect plans.

04
reflect

Learners pause with purpose to review insights, question outcomes, and make sense of progress. This reflective practice helps clarify thinking and deepen learning at every stage.

05
share

Ideas are put into conversation. Learners present their thinking, give and receive feedback, and listen actively to diverse perspectives. Through sharing, ideas are strengthened, and new directions often emerge.

06
apply

Learning doesn’t stay in the room. Learners take what they’ve gained into their own environments—testing ideas, adapting tools, and immediately embedding new practices into their real work and teams.

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
What makes this different from a typical training course?
OPEN
Close

We don’t do theory for theory’s sake. This is fast-paced, hands-on, and unapologetically practical. You’ll be using tools, maps, and reframes from the very first session—not just learning about them. Expect to think hard, move fast, and apply everything as you go.

Is this relevant in my region or industry?
OPEN
Close

Yes. Problem Hacking is designed to work across industries, cultures, and contexts. It’s been used by teams in government, finance, education, tech, and healthcare—across Asia, Europe, and North America. The tools are flexible enough to meet you where you are, wherever that is.

Who is this for?
OPEN
Close

Anyone responsible for making sense of complexity and moving things forward. Founders, team leads, analysts, designers, strategists, product people—you’ll fit right in. If you ever find yourself thinking “this isn’t the real problem”, this is built for you.

Do I need any prior experience?
OPEN
Close

Nope. Just curiosity and a willingness to rethink how you work. The tools are simple by design. The thinking you’ll do with them is where the stretch happens.

Is this just for work problems?
OPEN
Close

No. The method works anywhere there’s complexity or high-stakes decisions—at work, in side projects, even in your personal life. We’ve seen people use it across strategy, product, team dynamics, and beyond.

Is this based on design thinking?
OPEN
Close

Design thinking is great for creating ideas. Problem Hacking is about making sure you’re solving the right problem before you even start designing. Many teams use both together—but this comes first.

What’s the difference between self-directed and cohort courses?
OPEN
Close

Self-directed is flexible. Cohort courses are guided. In the self-directed suite, you move through the content in your own time, with access to tools and exercises built for independent learning. Cohort courses run to a schedule—with live sessions, group work, and facilitator guidance to keep the pace sharp and the ideas flowing.

What is the typical structure of a cohort course?
OPEN
Close

Each course runs over 3 to 5 weeks. Expect one live session per week (60–90 mins), with structured activities between sessions to apply what you’ve learned. You’ll use tools, test ideas, and bring back real insights—individually and with others.

Does my time zone matter?
OPEN
Close

Cohort courses are scheduled—but your time zone isn’t a barrier, it’s a benefit. Some cohorts are built across similar time zones for ease and flow. Others are intentionally diverse, pairing participants from different regions to challenge perspectives and expose new ways of thinking. We offer options across APAC and globally-friendly time slots, and let you choose what works best for you. Prefer to work completely on your own schedule? Self-directed courses are available anytime, from anywhere.

Can I try a tool or see an example before I commit?
OPEN
Close

Yes. Head to the “Our Methods in Practice” blog or explore a sample tool. It’s a good way to see how the method feels before diving in.

Can I bring this into my team?
OPEN
Close

Yes—and it’s often better that way. We offer tailored programs for teams and organisations. Whether you want to build shared capability or align around a real business problem, we’ll shape the program to fit. Head to the Corporate Training section to learn more.

Do you run in-house versions of the cohort course?
OPEN
Close

We do. If you’d prefer your team to learn together in a private cohort, we can customise the experience—timing, facilitation, and even the examples used. You’ll find more on the Corporate Training page.

Can I expense this through work?
OPEN
Close

Often, yes. Many people use their learning and development budgets or professional development allowance to cover the course. We can provide a receipt, tax invoice, or a formal letter of justification if you need one.

Do I get a certificate?
OPEN
Close

Yes. You’ll receive a digital certificate once you complete any course. But honestly, the clarity you gain is the real proof.

What happens after the course ends?
OPEN
Close

After the course, you’ll continue to have access to the material, plus opportunities to join alumni sessions, apply the method in new contexts, and take part in future learning experiences designed to extend your capability over time.
